    Adjustable Dumbbells

    Hi,

Just getting a jest on everyones thoughts on these. Was thinking of grabbing some 40kg Bioflex or the Powerblock for home. Never used them, was hoping that someone on here might have, if so, what were your thoughts on them? Are those fairly robust too?

    Any help would be sweet

    *Bowflex.

I have 2 pairs. I have the 52.5lbs and the 40kg. I got the 52.5lbs first (about $300 from eBay) then about 6 months later needed to get heavier ones. The 40kg ones were brand new but after about 3 weeks one of the dividing "plates" cracked and the weight plate feel out, landing on my toe. I contacted the place i bought them from and they sent a new one, that also cracked, so they sent a 3rd. I think it was on the 11kg setting each time. I am a bit scared of using them on the lower weights so I use the 52.5 lbs for the lower weights and the 40kgs for the higher ones. I was going to sell the small ones but it's handy having both. I got the stand with the 40kg ones as well, and the threads for the wheel nuts eventually stuffed up but my neighbour welded it back together for me and it's perfect.

I think the 49kgs ones were about $700, brand new also off eBay. They can be expensive, very expensive, so look around. No idea what the Powerblock ones are worth. I love mine.

I used to own a pair of Iron Master Dumbbells.

They were great and went up to 50kg or so.

They look very flimsy to me, and Rajah's post confirms that for mine.

I have no issue with the 52.5lbs pair. They are very strong, but the 40kg pair worry me a litte. I do feel safe using them for say the dumbbell press as the weights cannot fall out. Doing curls is the worry.
