Gyms in Melbourne - City and West Suburbs

    Hi guys,

I'm moving to a smaller unit at the end of the month and won't have room for my rack, weights, etc so I'm looking for a gym.

Bit about me, I consider myself an intermediate weight lifter. I've been resistance training for about 15 months. I also like cycling, swimming and running but do these elsewhere. I'm after a gym thats reasonably well equipped, I like compound lifts, squats, deadlifts, etc and bench pressing and the variations, incline and decline, etc so would need the equipment to do all these.

I've so far looked at RMIT gym, the advantages is price as I'm still a student there so I can get a pretty good rate. The only problem is it opens at 630am which will make doing a weights session before work a little tight timewise and there's limited equipment but I was told there's not many people in the gym early in the morning.

I'm going to have a look at Apollo Gym in Footscray later tonight and Dohertys on Flinders St next week. Has anyone had any experience with either of these? Or could recommend somewhere else to look at?

    Thanks in advance,

    Cheers

    Alex

Doherty's on Flinders, open 24 hours and plenty of equipment, what more could you want.

    Thanks guys.

Visited Apollo gym on the weekend and it looks like a great place, lots of gear, room, nice people, only concern now is whether riding the 10km to work after a weights workout in the morning will be ok - mainly concerned about injuries. I've still got to check out Doherty's on Wednesday.

    Cheers

Parking may be an issue. You don't want to pay for a membership then have to pay extra to park.
