my 50 dollar iherb order consisting of 2x n-acetyl tyrosine and 2x Rhodiola was inspected by customs... nothing taken (of course).

I was pretty surprised such a small order was checked, and from that place?

What did you order and from what site? I've read in some places that Bodybuiling.com won't ship here anymore, or something like that.

I ordered some stuff of eBay 2 weeks ago from the States, Krill Oil and Glutamine Peptides. They came seperately and both were opened and checked by customs and all was fine.

It was a product containing Ma Hung but I was seeing if it got through cause it was not plastered all over the label or anything.

Just strange they say "The custom regulation in your country now prohibits the import of supplements or food related sources" , just wondering if they changed the laws to stop all imports???

it may not be plastered all over the container, but it still would appear in the ingredient list i assume?

    so illegal lol.

i guess your lucky they didn't send you a bill for the inspection. and your lucky they sent it back instead of destroying it (hence your refund).

I'm pretty sure TCM practitioners in Australia are not allowed to use Ma Huang (Ephedra) anymore so i doubt it would be allowed.

Theyr'e doing you a favour...stopping you from trying to import something illegal. I got something stopped quite a while ago because it contained a banned substance and I didn't know (yohimbine from memory - not really sure why its banned). Good on them, I reckon. They could just send the stuff and let you lose it but they're showing a bit of ethical judgement.

Some time back I did order M-Stak from Universal Nutrition which was the exactly the same one that you can buy here.
With a 3rd of a price compared to here I thought why not.
Some time later I got a message from the customs that they confiscated the M-Stak because it contained a banned substance.
It is a bit confusing since they sell the same one here but I suppose they got license to do so.
From now I only buy within Australia which mean I pay up to 3X as much for the same item but at least I know I will keep it and not getting a hefty fine or worse, I`m not happy but it is difficult to know what is illegal or not even if you go through TGA`s list since one ingredients name can have a different name in another country.

It most probably was the american version that had banned substance as customs said. When australia gets supplements on the market, they have to cut some of the ingrediants out to comply with TGA

Yeah, what Jaiman said is exactly right. Customs dont take supplements with legal ingredients. Suppliers change their ingredients to meet Australian laws.

It's fine buying from overseas and you can save quite a lot of money, but you really need to do some research beforehand and understand what you are really purchasing.

This is what I got back from a Yanki company whom I have ordered quite a bit of sups before after asking if they were having problems with any of there sups getting into Australia recently.

"The only problems are with some NO products & prohormones. You may want to check if the products you are thinking about ordering will make it through customs on your end."

Of course, that would be great, if you could always get a reliable answer out of Customs, or, if they were consistent in what they inspect and/or seize.

Is there a banned product or substance list that Customs produces?????

How are we to know apart from Googling the product or the ingredients before we purchase.

Why do the bloody Yanks get all the good stuff and we miss out????

I should be able to decide what I put into my body !!!!!!!!!
