    Vits/Sup Newb

Hi guys this my first post but i have been lurking the forums for a while, great site.

In the last 8weeks i have lost 11kgs and im weighing in at 100.6kg. Cant wait to break that 100 barrier! I have my eating and working out in good form i think.

Anyway im eating very low carb and taking Nature's Own Multil Vitamin plus Omega 3 Fish Oil Capsules and Dymatize Nutrition Elite Whey Protein.

I wanted to ask if anyone would recommend anything else that i should be taking epically with my vitamins? are the ones im taking any good?

I was going to hit up a Chemist Warehouse tomorrow as im pretty much out of vitamins and just wanted to check in on peoples opinions before i re buy the Natures Own.

    thanks.

Congrats on the weight loss, top job.

I used to buy Nature's Own a lot before I started buying from OS. Nothing wrong with them in my view.

Fwiw: I think the Swisse Multi with Minerals is the best on the marker for all around vitamin and mineral support. Good pricing and a broad supp. I would consider adding chromium, Co-Enzyme Q10, and Alpha Lipoic Acid to your list. Additional zinc, magnesium and B complex would also help.

    Cheers

Thanks for the fast reply Take 2.

I have few question about your reply, sorry if they seem dumb im still very new to all this.

First is, are these the Swisse Multi your referring to?

Swisse Mens Ultivite Multi-Vitamin Mineral & Anti-Oxidants Formula Capsules 120 - Chemist Warehouse

with these swisse multis do i have to take a seperate Omega 3 Fish Oil?

Also you mentioned chromium, Co-Enzyme Q10, and Alpha Lipoic Acid, now with these are they all separate capsules? What do they really do?

    thanks heaps mate.

Yes to the Swisse. There's a few bottles types, although this may be the one I'm thinking of Swisse Ultivite MensMulti-Vitamin Mineral & Anti-Oxidant with Herbs Formula 1 Tablets 60 - Chemist Warehouse

    Keep taking extra Fish Oil.

    Some quick extracts:

    Chromium:
Chromium is an essential trace mineral meaning that it is essential for the metabolism of carbohydrates, and it also helps to regulate the metabolism of our blood sugar and thus helps deter diabetes. The benefits of chromium also include controlling fat and cholesterol levels in the blood, and if adequate amounts are provided to the body, it can help to prevent hypertension or high blood pressure.

CoQ10 and ALA are both excellent anti-oxidants. ALA is good for your liver.

Coenzyme Q10 is a crucial component in the cellular energy production cycle. CoQ10 is naturally produced in all cells of the human body, and has been studied extensively for more than 40 years. CoQ10 plays a crucial role in the production of cellular ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which provides energy to all cell functions.

Coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant that has great importance as a free radical scavenger. CoQ10 protects the stability of the cell membrane, protects DNA from free radical induced oxidative damage, and helps recycle Vitamin E. The human body gradually loses its ability to synthesize CoQ10 as we age. Research indicates that supplementation with CoQ10 may support normal heart function, protect DNA from free radical induced oxidative damage, and maintain healthy energy levels.

    Alpha Lipoic Acid:
Helps to reduce the blood sugar levels in diabetics and to balance sugar levels in non-diabetics. It also helps to reduce glycation; in other words, the damage that sugar does to our body, including accelerated aging.
Some studies have found that it may be beneficial in the treatment of glaucoma.
It helps the liver regenerate, especially in the treatment of liver degeneration because of damage from excessive consumption of alcohol.
It may help in the prevention and treatment of cataracts.
Helps to balance the level of cholesterol.
Helps in the case of cardiovascular problems such as hard arteries.
It helps to improve the efficacy in our bodies of other nutrients such as vitamin C and E.
It may help to detox your body.
    It is a powerful antioxidant.
Helps to prevent brain damage in older people

ALA mimics insulin which may enhance the body’s sensitivity to insulin. This helps to improve the ability of the body to build lean body mass and reduce fat. This can be good if you are trying to gain some healthy muscle mass, It also works with creatine to promote energy and improve your general metabolism.

Mate, I'm IR and I take them and a lot more.

One other thing I would suggest is about 2-5000IUs of Vitamin D a day.

    Cheers

Yes, that would be a good start. I think 1000IU is as big as they come without a script in Australia and I take 5,000IUs ED. I buy mine at iHerb.com - Vitamins, Supplements & Natural Health Products because I can buy 120 x 5000IU caps for bugger all money.

No mate. I've ordered countless items over the last few years from them and provided you stay away from banned things like Yohimbe etc, you'll be fine.

Just make sure you keep your order under $US80 (I think is the postage limit) so that your parcel is posted, not sent by courier. Way too many hassles with couriers and extra costs.

    And a shameless plug.

If you use this referal code, TUM550, you'll get $5 off your first order. :)

With ordering from the US, any orders over $100 are now subject to export approval, hence why you should keep your orders below this
