    BSc NitroVol

Has anybody tried NitroVol before?? It seems to have everything in it that i want in a post-workout drink.

NitroVol BSc BodyScience, Body Science Supplement Your Life

Just goto the nutritional data tab. If you cant be bothered opening, here are the important ones (per serve):

    Protein(g) 34.86 (although it is concerntrate )
    Glutamine (mg) 6968
    Creatine (mg) 3000
    Taurine (mg) 1000
    BCAA's (mg) 7000

Now retail is $240 and ive seen it as low as $175. But i can get this product at wholesale price, $145. So it actually works out to be on par in price with buying things in bulk and stuff.

Essentially my question is, is it OK to take a post-workout drink with so many different supps.

From what I can tell this product is a Bulking 50/50 product which is a combination of carbohydrates and protein.
There are some extra goodies sprinkled in, creatine being the biggest one.
This is of note as all the other non essential and essential aminos are naturally occuring in the WPC.

It is actually quite similar to the BioBulker product I manufacture. The differences are, the Nitrovol has marginally less sugar and more maltodextrin (but similar total carb levels) , whereas Biobulker's advantage is that it a large proportion of it's protein is WPI, whereas Nitrovol contains only WPC (though they have similar total protein).

It should be noted that Nitrovol is a more complete product in terms of added fibre, folate and a few vitamins.

BioBulker is $98 retail for 4kg so even at $145 for 4kg the Nitrovol isn't particularly good value, but a solid product all round.

Mal, when the dose of one product is 33% more than the other it is worth finding a factor (such as units per 100g so they can be compared).

Otherwise a direct comparsion is incorrect - which is exactly why many companies enlarge their dose to make the product appear more pure. One Aussie company is renowned for it at the moment - quoting their protein per 35g, rather than the standard 30g!

When you first look at it it looks great, untill you realise it is down near 70% protein.

Anyway, so if we compare both of these products per 100g we get the following:

    BioBulker Nitrvol:
    Protein: 41.3g Protein: 43.58g
    Carbohydrates: 49g Carbohydrates: 43.39g
    Sugars: 27.7g Sugars: 15.84g
    Fat: 2.1g Fat: 2.48g
Saturated fat 0.9g Saturated fat 1.45g
    Sodium: 92.2mg Sodium: 144mg

When looking at the amino acid spectrums they too are very similar. (in your comparison the biobulker ratios need to be multiplied by 1.33 to reflect an equal serve.)
No surprise here as you are basically comparing the natural inclusion rates of the wpc in Nitrovol vs the wpc/wpi combination of BioBulker.
Levels of leucine, isoleucine, valine, etc etc throughout the whole spectrum will be similar.
The main difference is in the Glutamine, Creatine and Taurine. BioBulker actually has more glutamine (glutamic acid) standard 6.7g per 100g compared with 6.12 for the Nitrovol, however the Nitrovol is further boosted with free form glutamine.

Basically it comes down to how important each factor is to the individual.

If you put a large value in boosted amino content (being creatine, glutamine and taurine) then the Nitrovol is the go, however if you place a larger value in the inclusion of WPI over WPC then the Bulker would be the ideal choice and of course the BioBulker is much more economical.

Pottsy, to answer youur first question, there is nothing wrong with taking such a concotion like this. Nitrovol's carb/protein combination is ideal for muscle building especially if you are on the slim side and are looking to bulk.

That being said, no pre blended product comes anywhere near what you can do if you simply went out and bought WPI, WPC, Maltodextrin and dextrose and made your own.
