    R-ALA - Expression of Interest

So who would be interested in Pharmaceutical Grade R-ALA produced and capped by my Compounding Pharmacist?

This is THE must have Anti-Oxidant and as usual this will mee strict Australian Pharma Standards, unlike the US Stuff i'm currently using.

Dont know prices yet, but the more i get the cheaper they will be.....

    Mimics Insulin
    Powerful Antioxidant
    Enhances Glucose Utilization
    Enhance Amino Acid Transport
    Lowers Blood Sugar
    Increases Creatine Uptake

ALA increases your muscles uptake of glycogen. This increases muscle cell volume and contributes to that full pumped feeling when you workout.
This is a very desirable effect as the increase in muscle glycogen also increases other important nutrient transport that contributes to cell volume and muscle growth.
ALA is not a thermogenic but it does appear to contribute to favorable body composition changes. This is believed to be due to a nutrient partitioning effect where nutrients are channeled more to lean tissue and away from fat tissue.
ALA will help enhance the efficiency of many different supplements. One in particular is Creatine HSC. ALA will help enhance the absorption of creatine into the muscle cell by providing a transport vehicle by its unique ability to mimic insulin. As we said in an earlier answer, you must use ALA in a capsule form and not in a pre-mixed powder.
ALA is also one of the most potent antioxidants available. And, when taken with other antioxidants it actually enhances their antioxidant abilities

R-ALA is 2 times more effective than regular (RS) Alpha Lipoic Acid and is a key component of mitochondrial dehydrogenase, which may help to slow the natural aging process in animals. Alpha lipoic acid is known as the "universal antioxidant" because of its unique solubility in both water and fat. It has the ability to conserve and prolong the life of vitamins C & E in the body, increasing their effectiveness. Alpha lipoic acid is also an excellent metal detoxifier, particularly for mercury and cadmium, which it binds to and neutralizes for excretion.

    Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA)
Alpha Lipoic Acid serves as a coenzyme in the energy production process in the cells which can provide quick bursts of energy. Alpha Lipoic Acid is unique in that it is both water and fat soluble which allows it to enter all parts of the cell to neutralize free radicals. Alpha Lipoic Acid contributes to invigorating mental and physical energy and a reduction in muscle fatigue. Dr. Lester Packer, a leading researcher in the area of antioxidants and a professor of molecular and cell biology at the University of California at Berkeley says "Alpha-Lipoic acid could have far-reaching consequences in the search for prevention and therapy of chronic degenerative diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease" .... "and because it’s the only antioxidant that can easily get into the brain, it could be useful in preventing damage from a stroke".

Common uses for supplemental alpha Lipoic Acid:

Currently used in Europe to treat peripheral nerve degeneration (neuropathy) resulting from diabetes.
May play a role in controlling blood sugar.
May help prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes.
Important for the production of energy inside the cell by utilizing sugar to produce energy contributing to mental and physical stamina.
Neutralizes free radicals. Unlike Vitamin C which is water soluble and Vitamin E which is fat soluble, alpha Lipoic Acid is both water and fat soluble which allows it to enter all parts of the cell to neutralize free radicals.
May help reduce LDL (bad) blood cholesterol.
    May help improve memory.
Chelates (grabs) heavy metals and binds them reducing these oxidants from blood system.
Inhibits Glycation which is responsible for accelerated tissue damage.
Recycles and enhances the effects of other antioxidants such as Vitamin E and Vitamin C.
Significantly increase survival in rats that have suffered a stroke if given before the stroke occurs.
Prevents tissue damage and death after a heart attack.
Not only does it act as an antioxidant itself, it also stimulates production of glutathione (an antioxidant produced by the body), giving cells a double dose of antioxidant.
Easily absorbed when taken orally and once inside cells is quickly converted to its most potent form, dihydrolipoic acid.
Because both alpha lipoic acid and dihydrolipoic acid are antioxidants, their combined actions give them greater antioxidant potency than any natural antioxidant now known.
Important for regulating aspects of the immune system, in particular immune cells called T-lymphocytes.
May be useful in relieving syptoms of stomatopyrosis, or Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS).
Suggested dosage for R-Alpha Lipoic Acid is 100 mg two to three times daily
