Hey Tim and Marc, and everyone else.
I'd forgotten completely about this forum - as you can see from my other post.
Thanks very much for promoting on here to try and get at least some Strongman news to the bodybuilding masses.
I posted in reply to my thread on the other area, but we felt that we had a good event on Saturday and despite weather and the lack of involvement of the PCYC, everybody had a good time, and nearly all the athletes said how much they enjoyed it.
We are planning another one in November, and already have a few more sponsors lined up. This time we will have a venue that we actually want, the PCYC came about after another venue got booked out!
The one in November will be the last one of the year and will contribute double points to the NSW Strongman League, where a few points here or there will definitely make a difference in end of year placings.
And there was Strongman beer after the comp!

Not at this stage, I have never done Highland Games. I would love to have a go but this level of competition isn't one for novices, ha ha!

I am hoping to do an event in Wooloongong on November 14.

Some heavy events there for a novice show.
Is this one Rob Kilpatrick has put together?

I know a few of my crew that could do it though and have never competed.

Not sure how involved Rob is, but that is his gym. Going by the rules on facebook he is not eligible to compete (< 2 novice shows is the rule).

Other than the 130kg stone I don't see anything particularly heavy for a novice show.

Joel told me a while ago that a gym owner in Brisbane was trying to get him to do a novice show - I assume that is this one.

Be good to see a few of your crew involved - boys like Donnie are far overdue to make their debut!

That looks like fun, I might have a bash at that - Do you need to own all the gear?

You don't need to own anything, but you will probably want a lifting belt. Wear comfortable lifting clothes, including an old T Shirt to do stones in (as the tacky will wreck your event T Shirt)

I've just sent off the request for information - where would I get some tacky as it says on the facebook page that none is supplied? Is there a store in Brisbane that sells it?

    Underground Elite :: Strongman Equipment

Nick is very fast with delivery.

Go the Jack Tack. The small size will be heaps. Tip - bring a can of WD40 and an old towel to clean up with. WD40 is the ONLY thing that gets tacky off!

If possible try and get a session in with the Yoke and stones as it is quite tricky to do on the day without having a go prior to the comp. Saturday mornings we usually train at woolloongabba, all there gear is there or tee it up with Tim for when he is there next.
