    your brain and its functions...

    Hi all,

I'm just curious what everyone's thoughts are regarding our brain. Why we only use so little of our brain?

They say that we are evolving to use more of our brain but we truely don't know all the functions of our brain.

    Discuss...

That's a myth, we use all of it.

I'm. Not sure how much we use.

Dr Karl (triple j) did say once that the only time we use close to 100% of our brain is during an epileptic fit, when it goes crazy with electrical activity.

What is the next evolution of the human brain? Well considering it's evolved from reptile to now the next stages could be a real treat!

I'm talking about the commonly held belief that humans only use/develop 10% of their brain, that's a complete myth. There is no such thing as a hidden untapped part of the brain that's just waiting to be unlocked, and all for just 6 easy payments of $49.95.

But sure, we're probably not using 100% of our brains all the time.

percentage of how much we use depends on what life stage and whats going on around us.

HOWEVER there is an increase in brains with higher functioning, but society calls it a disability. google aspergers, high functioning autistic spectrum disorders such as pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified. You will find mention of DaVinci, Einstein and many other brilliant minds. More and more are diagnosed on this spectrum, why? cause the brain is evolving, these brains think at higher speeds, use beta instead of alpha waves and have a higher percentage of heat production from the cerebral cortex (comes with the side effect of higher rate of headache and light sensitivity).

I always took it to mean we can only use 10% at any one time, we do use all of it, but for different things at different levels.

That might be false as well though

I read somewhere that not many people truely think.. Meaning people only do stuff out of routine, other people think they are thinking but are not and the people that truely think have invented things.

I find the brain very interesting. How it can make us create all different feelings, side effects certain drugs have on the brain.

How if we cut some of our brain out like if you have a temor and cut it out and lose function, the other parts of the brain can take over that lost function.

I wonder why a lot of people say they get their best work from illegal drugs...

There's no limit of how much of it we use. You can sit here in our society today and become a vegtable, or put it to use.

I read that that theory of only using 10% of our brains is BS.

Agree with Tranquilo on that one.

Tranquilo do you have B_pay on that?

The brain is often associated with the mind, and the heart is associated with love.

So how much of your heart are you using on a daily basis?

I know some people who don't seem to have a brain........

I'm waiting for the day when they can insert microchips into our brains...then I might be able to remember some of the stuff I should remember instead of having to write a gazillion lists all the time so I don't forget things.
