Dreams.. What do people think they mean???

Well I have really weird dreams and every night. I can change my dreams as well like if I don't like something I just change it. If I'm doing something physical I wake up really tried and with really sore muscles

I usually have dreams about really violent stuff and in full detail.

Just curious what everyone's perspective is about dreams

There's another thread around, but google a part of your dream that's significant and the meaning will come up.

    Well this is the meaning

FIGHTS : Fighting in dreams often links to very powerful emotions. Its a very male thing and usually quite easy to spot. Just think back to the day before the dream. What was the source of aggression in your mind. Did you feel resentful? Did you feel drawn into a heated and difficult situation or did you start an argument? Just simply ask yourself what annoyed you the day before!

I'm not a male and I hardly ever have heated arguements. I'm a very peaceful person. I would say 90 percent of my dreams someone gets their head kicked in..... What the hell.... Please explain

Maybe I was like a violent person in my pasted life

I very rarely remember my dreams - maybe once every few months. Personally I believe dreams are simply your imagination, I don't think they mean anything.

I think that the subconscious mind operates in terms of symbols and is essentially composed of energy. Dreams are usually our subconscious mind trying to tell us something - using symbols.

I think there are several levels of dreams. Some dreams are junk dreams - these are the ones you have during a midday nap - they are just the daily anxieties and stresses being played out in the conscious mind.
Then there are higher dreams. These are the ones that you have a night, that you only sometimes remember - i find they usually represent the inner workings and learning's of your life's events.

Then there are visions - they are a totally different class altogether - when you have one you will know it. They are not so much as dreams but experiences - it feels like your whole soul is involved and that this event is a major turning point in life and often involve a being of some sorts.

Lastly, you have spiritual contacts. This is when you genuinely have contacted someone on the astral planes - such as a dead relative giving you a message etc.

Violent dreams are quite common regardless of your age/gender. The interesting part about any dream is your position in the. Do you dream in the first person or do you see yourself in the third person? If you dream violent dreams where you are either the victim or the agressor (it really doesn't matter strangely enough) then you are acting out either suppressed thoughts or memories. The problem with memories is that they can be your own or a memory that was read from a book or seen in a movie. Usually we disregard first person dreams because they how they relate to the dreamer is different for everyone.

Common dreams are violent dreams where you witness the violence usually against a person you care about greatly. The strange thing here is that the subconscious mind doesn't discriminate between people we love or people we hate. For this reason we may dream about a violent attack on a loved one and someone we hate in the same way.

A thing to remember is that most serial killers rarely dream about violence. Jeffery Dahmer was quoted as saying he helped people in his dreams.

I dream as if I'm there like I don't see myself I don't follow myself around the dream I'm actually in the dream as if I was actual there. Its so weird in the back of my mind I'm like its just a dream. Like there will just be random fights and like I will see someone in a fight or whatever but the weird thing is like I don't want to actual see it so I always like disappear away from the viewing and can still hear it then I'm like its dream you can't get hurt. I go back and usually beat the people up. I think it is weird.

Everyone says that I'm weird that I always remember them, that I can change them, that they are in to much detail

Yes extensively. I have be practicing Chakras, Prana, Kundalini, kabala and several other magickal techniques for a very long time. The pineal gland is called the Ajna Chakra, it is our access to the astral planes which in turn is the foundation of the physical plane. Development of concentration and visualization is important to development of the ajna chakra.

Anyway, my above writing is the result of my own practice and not something i read.

dreams is a way of your sub conscious releasing information that is no longer needed.
Or reinforcing something that you have been trying to remember

Stuff the PM Pete. I'd like to know too. Sounds interesting.

I always have vivid dreams and sometimes I've felt I've live other people's lives (not always good) and visited other places. It's crazy great. My partner never remembers his dreams which I find sad. I love exploring my dreamscapes, looking for meanings and reasons.

Ok, i tried to stay out of these sleep threads, simply because i kinda don't like talking about it anymore...

But, this is what really happens when we sleep.

REM sleep, where we spend approx 20% of the total sleep time, is where we do all our cognitive stuff, all the brain functions. One important aspect of this is Short Term memory storage to Long Term memory storage.

This is the reason we dream, our subconsious is replaying REAL memories we've experienced, to a different part of the brain, where receptor bonds are created and over time, we dream the same thing over and over, and the bonds get stronger hence we end up with long term memory.

Now, our subconscious is responsible for this, it decides what we've seen recently, what it thinks is important and needs to store, and what it things is irrelavent and skips. Yes if your subconscious isn't happy, from a traumatic experience, this is why night terrors etc can occur, its hard for the subconscious to let go, infact its a perfect battleground to re-live the experience, and hopefully learn how from the mistakes and if it happens again, you'd be better equipped (that crosses to psychology).

As we awaken from REM sleep, this is when we can "guide" the dream and it becomes fiction. The dreams we do not remember are real memories. This is why, when we do dream, it may be in a setting from years ago (eg an old house you lived in), but with people that look like they do now...

Your not really meant to remember your dreams, otherwise you won't know whats real or a dream... Remembering a dream, awakening just before your alarm clock goes off, is the textbook way to awaken in the morning. If you remember lots of dreams per night, chances are your being disturbed during REM, causing you to wake up unnaturally.

    ok enough blabber for now.

I think dreams are like our "filing system"... during the day all these "files" come into our brain and much of what cannot be dealt with straight away stays in our "in tray". When we go to bed the brain goes to the in tray and sorts and stores everything in the right part of the brain. This activity causes the energy which results in dreams.
