not to much to explain really. Some people are mentally ill.
And it's fucked.
god was on another call, and his call waiting isnt working
Now this is typical of the dangers of religion and faith.
It can make some poeple forget the )(&^))^&%$$ REALITY OF THE WORLD
now thats not nesseasarily saying that all religion and "faith' is bad..... just the extreme examples.
SAD man sad

Blurred reasoning. Guess they might not have realised just how sick she was but geez. Is it the Jehovas that dont believe in interventions like transfusions.
It certainly raises questions as to whether parents are allowed choose how their child is raised.
If a parent doesn't want their child to have a vaccination for XYZ disease because of known side effects, is this OK? What happens if the child ends up dying from XYZ disease? Does that make the parents liable? My g/f's parents were outcast from their small village in Ireland because they wouldn't let the doctor give my g/f a vaccination when she was a child because she had such violent reactions to previous vaccinations.
It has not a topic religion, but a parent has the right to choose what they believe is best for their child (whether the beliefs are religious based or not). It is a complex topic to which their is no simple answer.
I see where your getting at but your gf's case is quite a different situation as I see it. Sure it was risky for her parents to refuse the vaccination but it wasn't an emergency situation. In that case, I agree with you that it should be their right to decide what is best for their child as I'm guessing that there would be more room for error compared to an emergency situation.
However, the girl who died was in a state of medical emergency and needed immediate treatment. Now for a parent to prevent that at a time where it was absolutely CRITICAL should be held accountable for their actions (or lack of) IMO.
But you're right, its a complex topic. Did the parents really believe deep down that they were doing the right thing? Only they would know the answer to that....
"Neumann's daughter Madeline died from untreated diabetes on March 23, 2008, surrounded by people praying for her. When she stopped breathing, her parents' business and Bible study partners finally called the emergency dispatcher".
As most of you here know I'm a father to 4 daughters and I'm a Muslim; but I'm not blind! I'd love for anyone to show me a verse from any religious book which says: "pray rather than seek medical help"! Because if there is, then you can consider me an atheist than a theist from that point onwards...
Fadi.
Well at least the mother was found guilty. Hopefully that will deter others from making the same mistake. I wonder if the parents are now atheists as a result of this. They preyed their little hearts out & nothing happened. Surely it's time to rethink their beliefs.
I just saw my parents having sex, that's the last time I visit that website.
Brainwashed ..................... hope the rot in there "hell" for it.
Exactly. Pinning the blame on religion is just plain ignorant.
So if a religious person prays for something and whatever they prayed for does not come to fruition, they should abandon their faith? I don't think this is how their faith works and I doubt there would be many religious people left on the planet if this is the case.
I am far from religious, but you get over seeing stories like this in the media. There are good and bad in all walks of people - teachers, police, politicians, athiests and religious people too. Have a look at the charity work many, many religious organisations do... oh but that doesn't make for interesting news, does it?
I don't see a problem to do both: to pray and seek medical treatment. Especially, when it comes to your children, you are ready to give your life for the sake of their health and wellbeing.
This incident can not be blamed on religion, it must be blamed on the individuals involved. Plenty of religious folks around who would seek medical advice in this situation, dare I say most of them.
Having said that, in the USA, "In God We Trust" is written in every courtroom. So which is it, do we trust in god or dont we.
Its only hard if you dont know how.
