Hope all turns out well mate. Keep being positive (pethadine is good for that !). Lets hope they can get to the bottom of the cause and give you some long-term relief.

mmm can empathise, have had hospital visits for headache/migraines as well over the years. There was a five year period where it was unusual for me NOT to have a migraine, and I had a daily tablet that I had to take to keep them at bay for a long time. Since finding I was wheat/gluten intolerant and eating right, I have not had many, its only occasional now, like today when I have had to change to new shift times, ontop of being headbutted in the nose by a sleeping child that sat bolt upright at the wrong moment the other night, and the higher stress levels of changing to a new position, that I then have another migraine like headache.

Take it easy and dont stress about the extra time in hospital, let them work out what is going on for you and find you some solutions for it, an extra week off now might save you months of pain down the track.

I take it you wrote that post from your mobile (which should be off? )
If so, could be a good way to get your mind off things and more pumped after you get better.

    All the best.

Flirt with the nurses. They love it when you slap their ass.

Get well soon! Can i recommend something to all the migraine sufferers out there? I have tried every single thing on the market, done every test possible, had shots of pethadine and explored the pharmacies of Thailand. I could pretty much have a doctorite in Migraines. It takes a little while to kick in but man is it is good.

Nothing at all has ever worked until i found this. Have you tried Zomig? There is nothing on the market that will stop you from getting them long term however, this will fix it. You take it on the onset. You will find that migraines will be affected by sleep patterns, hormones or as Dollfinn said, food.

In addition, i had botox done in the trigger points ie my temples, jaws, back of the neck and scalp. I've never had wrinkles in my forehead so i didn't even bother doing it there at all so it's not a vanity thing for me. Basically, the muscles that hurt were frozen. It doesn't stop migraines but it makes a huge difference. I got to the point where for a while there i was getting them 3 out of 4 weeks, and i kept going most of the time. The big thing to control it is sufficient sleep.

Do you know your triggers? I know mine is sorted by not waking up at a certain time. Eg, i'm fine getting up at 5am, but if i get up at 6am, i struggle.

If you have an IPhone, there's an app on it that detects your deep sleep etc. A friend has it and it's amazing. :)

waking up with a headache is not normal and usually points towards some type of sleep disturbance such as sleep apnoea causing oxygen desaturation and increased blood pressure.

early in the morning points towards REM sleep, since we paralyse our body to stop acting out dreams, if any breathing difficulties will arise, they will happen in REM.

Dude gotta say they are fine when it comes to waxing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then re-waxing when something falls off you.

I had to twin twenty year olds, was hilarious and good fun :)

Hence they were either twins or lookalike sisters, or was it the drugs that was pumped into me, umm who knows :)

    UPDATE

So I was meant to be in for the weekend, but I was in a lot of pain over the weekend and given pethidine just to cope with the pain. I have used Nurofen Plus on and off for a while now and there was def withdrawal from the codeine involved.
SO monday comes and the doc tells me except to be in for the week, so I did.
All week in more pain then I have the whole five years, then thursday evening doc walks in and tells me treatment is not working see you later, there is nothing more I can do for you.
So I am still in constant pain, a variety of drugs in my system and he sends me home to cold turkey everything as well as the codeine.
He tells me he will give me some DI-GESIC to get through the night and that was that, he washed his hands of me.
Nurse comes in to discharge me and I ask her for the Di-GESIC and she tells me that we don't give patients drugs to take home. DI-Gesic is s4 classed drug.
I explain to her that the doc said he'd give me some, so she leaves the room and comes back and tells me that the doc just told her that his treatment has failed and he wants me to leave with nothing just like the way I came in.
SO in pain still I leave the hospital, thursday night I didn't sleep at all. It's now sunday night and I still haven't been to sleep yet, I am so wide awake from all the drugs. Insomnia is a side effect from these drugs and I am finding out the hard way about that. Pain has reduced a bit too.

Anyway friday after no sleep I ring the neurologist and ask him what can I do to get rid of the pain, and I haven't slept at all since weds night. He says, and I quote. "What do you want me to do? My treatment failed there is nothing I can do for you." I said I know that, but I can't function, my pain is 10/10. So he says " I am not going to give you narcotics. " Which I replied I don't want them. (he basically called me a drug user just looking for the next hit.) He then told me if i am pain my advice is to go to St Vincents and get a neurologist to see me.

so this guy only has one trick in his bag, it failed and he casted me aside. Although I think he thinks I just wanted a hit.
I saw the GP and he put me on a un-additive pain management plan, which is working pretty well atm. I also got in to another neurologist whom I am seeing tomorrow.

Anyway I still haven't slept so saw the GP and told him I haven't slept since weds night and i am dizzy, light headed and can't focus properly (even now on sunday i am like this.)
Not knowing what drugs were given to me he was reluctant to give anything, eventually the body will crash, and it's going to be hard.
So I decided to ring the ward I was on and get the names of the drugs. The nurse in an aggressive tone told me I was given a list when I checked in and it was in my room. A list i have no recollection of. I was also told by her that I should of be given a medpack to go home with, various tablets to help get by. This I never got either, after telling her that she said well I know it went into your room so I don't know what to tell you. So basically I am now a liar as well. I guess that goes hand in hand with the junkie I was already labelled.

So I have just finished and emailed to the CEO a formal letter of complaint explaining pretty much everything here as well as the incompetence of the whole department from the neurologist down.
A friend of mine is in qualitly control and she told me if I do it this way they legally have to respond to me, within 5 days to acknowledge the letter and then in 30 days after the report. I can take it even further if i am not happy with the response.

SO how did i go in hospital? Well I can't work because I can barley stand or focus, and you need to focus to be a photographer. In my job you only get pain when you work as well. So two weeks loss of income, and put through worse pain then I was already in.

Words truly can't explain how I am feeling now, all I know is I want and need sleep, just not sure when this will happen.

On the flip side I am starting a new business and need things done by this weekend, it's surprising how much you can actually get done when you don't sleep EVER!

sorry for the long post, but thats the story!

Holy crap, I'm sorry you've been treated with little respect and regard for your condition.

I know this isn't going to help your physical pain, but most of the the state medical registration boards have merged into a national authority (a friend works there) to make escalated complaints if your direct approach doesn't yield results: AHPRA - AHPRA Home. In NSW, the body is: Protecting public health and safety by dealing with complaints about health service providers in NSW - Health Care Complaints Commission

I hope you get some sleep soon.
