    malaware question

For a few days i have been getting random ads just appearing on the screen. Sometimes it takes me away from whatever im doing (posting or reading on SM or whatever) to a page of ads. I have anti virus stuff and did a scan but nothing.

I figure i should scan/clean up malaware or whatever its called. Does it sound like that and if so, whats a good free program for it. I think spybot used to be ok but I dont know anymore.

    thanks

The best spyware/adware/malware removal I use is Spyware Doctor. It's free as part of the Google pack. It finds everything and anything the other programs do.

Very easy solution. Get rid of your sh*t windoze machine and buy a ...... oh.

Can't help you Rusha. I have never had the problem. Or virus issues. Or botnet issues. Or crashes. Or stupid update warnings/reminders, or system crashes, etc etc etc etc.

Linux? C_T, I cannot imagine you with suspenders, pens in your shirt pocket, a beard, thick glasses and a smug look on your face coz you are giving Bill Gates the software equivalent of "the finger".

spybot and programs similar actually have malware in side the program themselves.
You need a good anti-virus program like norton or symantec etc and if they don't get rid of it, then you shouldn't use third party stuff like spybot.
A computer should be wiped and reloaded every 6mths for best performance. Best way to get rid of viruses.
You use spybot it might stop the pop ups for now, but it doesn't actually remove them from the computer, traces are still there and the performance of the computer will slow over time.

Before doing any scans you's want to get rid of crap files - great program to do this is crap cleaner CCleaner - Home
as mentioned before malwarebytes is great - Malwarebytes.org. Run these 2 progs and that should see you right. They are both free

Trouble with adawre and spybot is they can load background services and be continually running (you can turn them off but a little tricky to the uninitiated)

If you need more detailed help, please feel free to PM or post here. Reformatting is great and can suggest some tools to help get you back up and running
