What do people use these days to search for, and download, mp3s?
It's been so long since I bothered with any music at all..

i find em on isohunt or bittorrent, minnova, pirate bay or leech from a friends hard drive ;).
the client i use is vuze (azeuros)(sp?)
for albums and singles i use torrentz
for single tracks i use frostwire, same as limewire but doesnt need to be paid for, and uses same clients as limewire, actually same setup,
Yeah I can pretty much find what I want via torrents, and the odd youtube mp3 rip. My wife wants to load up an mp3 player to the gills and something like the old limewire where she can search and queue a bunch of random stuff would be easier...
I use torrents or rapidshare. I mainly listen to hard rock/heavy metal and there are a couple of forum based torrent sites I go to get that music. I use Bit Lord as my torrent client.
I listen to mp3's via my phone or iPod for at least 8 hours everyday when I'm at work.
I have over 30,000 songs on my computer.
Slightly off topic but as someone who works in the software industry, I say do don't do it.
There are plenty of people in Australia being fined for infringing copyright including stores that sell pirated Microsoft software.
In a recent case in the US, someone was fined 1 million bucks for downloading music from Kazaa.
it's quite different in Australia, it's hard for the average punter to get in trouble.
Laws that allows companies to look at personal computers are different here, and has been proven if it goes to court that the information gathered was illegal in process and the evidence thrown out.
Using a torrent is harder to be traced, there are tracers but an outside agency has to upload 100% of a file from your IP, not a part, so with torrents you just turn your upload off when finished.
Not saying copyright infrigement enforcement doesn't happen, but it's just harder here than in the US.
Cheers ya'all!
You are correct Ded, however there have been several cases of late and houesholders ( who are responsible largely for a lot of illegal downloading) should also be aware that they may be targeted.
If you think it is extreme for Microsoft to be knocking on your front door, think again.
torrents are safe than limewire, limewire is full of viruses.
Mininova.org is your friend :)
yeah like i said mate Im fine I use mininova heaps, but my wife isnt great on a computer and some file share program she can just search, select, and leave to download is what i want for her

I've heard of business' who claim Micro$$ software and then get audited and can not show proof of ownership being busted, also computer and software retails selling illegal copies .. like pre-loaded software and bundled software but have not heard of many home users in trouble. I'm sure it happens but i've never known of any.
If micro$$ does come knocking at your door and trys to accuse of any illegal act, you must challenge them all the way, asking how information was gathered, they will always withdraw the complaint if you have not put information publicly out.
Brisgym.. what do you do mate?
