    FF Fees up again

Wow, today I got a letter from fitness first saying membership fees
are going up yet again, just curious if any other members have
been on the end of another fee increase.

Surely it's just co-incedence that the increase comes with the tax cut
    that just kicked in! Hmmmmmmmmmm?

Someone should start a gym which actually rewards people for going. Ie. Based on attendance you get discounts which reduce your monthly rate.
Because i swear they make SO much money on ppl who dont go.

thats what ff is all about. they sell a lot of memberships if no one shows up they still make money without their equipment wearing out or machines breaking. how many people do you know that sign up at a gym, go for a couple of months, if that and then never go again while the money is still being debited out of their account.

Without giving it any thought at all i can think of three that my FF is getting free money from. They aren't much different to other gyms in that regard though. Im sure its same all round.

Simon, what sort of membership do you have?

my gyms fees stays the same as the first day that your sign up, for the lifetime of the membership. Even when the fees go up, your oringinal fee stays the same

Effectively, the fees at my gym are $340 a year. You only get the weight room for that. There's no steemroom, sauna, etc.. But it's a very good gym. There are some classes, like spin and othres but you have to pay separete for them, 6$ a pop if I remember correctly.

Not defending FF here Simon, but that is what most gyms are about.
(Sell a membership knowing full well that the drop out rates are very high)

And i know that... i'm just saying they should reward the people who come... it would be a good way to get people to join & a great incentive to get people to continue coming! the more you come, the more you're rewarded.

I got the same letter. I got on board a corporate deal with FF about 5 years ago; howevet it's steadily been going up. The thing that shits me is they start the letter off "as a valued customer....blah....blah...blah".

I'm joining a new gym opening up in about a month as a foundation member for $48 a month. It has absolutely everything that FF has and it's closer, so less petrol to get there. Fitness First!

I think the best one was 12 months ago all monthly memberships to fortnightly at 1/2 of the monthly rate effectively giving themselves an extra monthly payment each year.

I questioned this and found out my membership is so old - joined in 2001 - that weren't allowed to do it to me so they had to reduce the fortnightly rate to keep my annual fee the same.

Worth checking out the conditions of your membership if your a longstanding member.

    Have Fun
    Karl
