    G'day all

I stumbled across this site and joined up, as I seen there were a few older people here. So I have added to the older set.
With my weights I have been doing them for quite a while but never to the point of really make so many gains from them.
I now have arthritis and I know that to keep it at a level where I can continue with life, weights will allow me to do this.
So now I am doing my best to do my weights all the time.
Though I can only do them for about 6 weeks in a stretch. This is due to my back complaint which is real.
At the moment I workout 3 times a week. I would love to go more but it would just not work at this time.
I am here to learn as I know that I don't know all there is to know.
And I hope not to step on anyones toes.

    Hi Riddick, and welcome!

So you back injury means you can only train for 6 weeks and then you need to take time off? How long do you need to take off? What if you trained 3 weeks on, 1 off every month? You would be making progress that way...

Firstly to Big Tim, after the 6 weeks on I have a week off. But sometime this can go to 2 or 3 weeks.
There is just no judging how I will be from week to week. So I do my best.
Your idea of 3 weeks on and the next off is something I have never thought about.
But I have now and I will implement it as of Monday. So thank you so much for that.

And to you and Obi 1 thanks for the welcome.

I have had 3 operations done on my lower back and none of which has helped in the long term.
They did make a difference for about a 6 week time slot then things beganto go down hill quickly.
My disc actually exploded in my back and I was told it was one of the worse they have ever seen.
They are the doctors words not mine.

Now I have constant pain no matter what I do.
I can do noting and be real bad then again I can do a few things and still be the same way.
So it is hard to actually do a great deal as it is alway so sore.
But I have to push through it the best I can.

Recently we went to Adelaide to see a specialist there and he that there is something he could do.
But he went on to say that if he did do something I could even walk out worse.
So it was better to battle on the way I am now.

That about it in a nut shell, plus with age you pay for what you done as a young fella.
So arthritis and calicfication plus other things hamper things to a big degree.
