    Metabolic typing - Endocrine type

    Hey everyone.

I recently read an article by a lady who seems to be a Metabolic Typing advisor talking about the idea that the carb/protein/mixed type of metabolic typing is a watered down version of the real thing and that in fact, contrary to many of the metabolic typing tests which only establish your metabolic dominance, endocrine type also exists and is very relevant with regards to weight loss.

I was wondering what some of the more clued people here know about this and whether anyone could tell me more about fast oxidisier/adrenal metabolic type.

    Thank you in advance :)

She had probably run out of ideas for her latest blog post.

Like Metabolic Typing basing a 'diagnosis' on an endocrine dominance is very subjective. MT adopts the idea (in a very minimal component) that the Endocrine System also plays a role in shaping external features.

I wouldnt read too much into it but rather consider the nutrition and lifestyle roadblocks that may be contributing to poor adrenal/health function.

If she is a healthexcel MT advisor then I would listen. William Wolcott forms part of this company. As an MT Advisor and you paying for an advanced test there is 24 possible types. I read the book and then got an advanced test. Im glad I did for my own knowledge. Coudl you get away without having an advanced test? Maybe. I got alot out of my test and actually am learning to listen to my body. Some of the foods Im struggling with (offal as an example) and for me some things that surprised me.

    Just my thoughts

I've studied metabolic typing back to front, spent many years learning from Bill and done 100's of tests with clients. The endocrine type is pretty insignificant in the big picture.

why would his company endorse it as part of metabolic typing if it was insignificant?

Perhaps marketing, value adding a product. It looks at where you distribute body fat via a questionnaire and then indicates a gland that may be dominant. From that there are 2 or 3 nutritional protocols that should be considered.

    . . . As a THYROID Endocrine Type

    1. Restrict or minimize intake of black tea, chocolate, coffee, cola, refined carbohydrate (white flour, etc.), sugar, desserts and fruit
    2. If you must snack, try to just eat a hard-boiled egg or some meat
    3. You may do better if you eat about the same portions at all three meals each day

If I was looking at true endocrine function I'd be more likely to consider:
    - Pancreas
    - Insulin
    - Thyroid function
    - Adrenal stress (elevated Cortisol) inhibits Thyroid
    - Androgen and estrogen hormone levels, excesses, deficiencies, imbalances
    - A heap more hormone-related functions fluid retention, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, lethargy, low endurance, etc
