    Where to find metabolic type

Hey i was just wondering if anybody knows a good website where i can take the metabolic typing test for free. On the sites I have found the test consists of only about 10 questions it then tells me im a protein type and thats it. No diet suggestion, no advice on what meals to stick clear of. I initially thought this metabolic typing stuff was a load of shit but i think ill give it a go. This is after jesper posting about mt in every single thread :D

A proper Mt test will cost you money, but well worth it if you're serious. Read the book first of course

If you look at the MT forum you will find lots of info regarding MT.

One of the sites talked about there is http://www.metabolictyping.com
The test here is more comprehensive and costs money.

In general, you get what you pay for. Hence I suggest you review your attitude of looking for "free" stuff.

If you are serious about dieting and nutrition, view a proper MT test as a very worthwhile investment in your body and knowledge :).

Obviously i would prefer a free option as would everyone i guess. I understand the you get what you pay for saying and I am willing to pay its just i dont have a credit card or a means of paying over the internet so that was my reasoning behind looking for a free alternative. Im gonna check out the local nutritionists and see if they can help me on this matter, the reason i didnt do this in the first place was due to time constraints but i guess its my only option.

    Hi all,

Firstly - great site you have here, you all seem very supportive and knowledgeable.

One of the things that has first caught my attention is the metabolic typing - i've had a look around for local clinics and the only one i can see in QLD is at Ashmore (http://www.metabolictyping.com.au/) - has anyone been here and can recommend them? Or is something like the online American one more value for money.

    Cheers!
    Chris.

It is more than a question of value for money. The ONLY real site to have your metabolic typing done from is www.metabolictypingonline.com.

Thanks for the reply Jesper - I just thought the QLD might be more precise? It seems to be a full day thing with urine tests etc etc. I'll definately use the online one though. Cheers - Chris.

No that is a common misconception. Blood tests, urine tests etc. are all point-in-time snapshots and not very useful.

Jesper, do you know of anyone within the Sydney area that writes MT diets?

Part of the point of Metabolic Typing is understanding your body better. With this in mind, the best person to write a diet for you, is you :)

MT is more of a way of life than a short term solution, and long term, an understanding of the concept and how it relates to you is vital.

May i suggest having a go at writing a diet for yourself and posting it here for our comments?

Hi elektra, you need to do a full MT test regardless of using a dietitian or not.

From my experience, dieting is more effective when you take full responsibility yourself and get to know your body, what works, and what doesn't. The full test comes with lists of allowed and not allowed foods, and sample diets. So my recommendation would be to start with this and experiment yourself.

I don't know of anyone in Australia apart from myself and Rossana (that combines MT with fitness/weight training), but we prefer people to do it themselves for the above reasons :).

Thank you Dava & Jesper for your replies,
I understand and agree with your feedback.I should have expanded further when asking the question & given some info about myself, so here goes…

    Female age 33
    Current weight 58.5kg BF 22.2%
    Cardio 5-6 x per week & weight training 4-5 x per week
I don’t smoke, drink very very rarely, but do enjoy the occasional cappuccino.
My goal is to increase muscle & decrease body fat % for more muscle definition (not to be skinny)

I have done the full MT test (3 weeks ago) and I’m Fast Oxidation Dominant
    13% sympathetic
    44% balanced
    41% parasympathetic
    24% slow oxidation
    75% fast oxidation

I have been following the sample meals and experimenting a little, but would like some more variety and additional guidance (and a personal chief :D ), especially with the macronutrient ratios and alternative foods/meals.
I began reading the book 3 weeks ago, but due to starting a new job & currently going through a messy time consuming divorce case it’s still sitting on my side table (along with your recommendation Jesper, Conversations with God), and is taking longer than anticipated to read :(
For me this isn’t a short term solution and it’s not necessarily about the weight loss but something I want to adhere to in my life and take control of, and reap the benefits. So I thought I may possibly be able to fast track things a little, saving myself time by acquiring the help of a dietitian, but given both your responses I realise I was wrong & understand it wasn’t quite the correct way to approach it :o .
I am partly in tune with my body (but do still have a lot to learn), going from a wobbly size 14 to a fairly muscular size 8-10 I have experimented some what and have a basic understanding of what works & what doesn’t personally, but admit when it comes to understanding food I am a novice. But I will attempt to write my own diet as you Dava suggested (any additional suggestions before I start?) and post it as soon as I do for comment.

Thanks again guys I am truely appreciative:)
