am i allowed to ask to keep a copy of the tests to take home?
The doctor started goin through the therapy that he would do if the tests come back low.
I am 22 years old, what range should i consider a good or in the norm?

Not only are you allowed, it's your right. Ask for a copy. I have copies of every test I've ever had.

At your age, it would not be unreasonable to have your test levels in the upper third of the range.

Blood test ranges for test vary from lab to lab.

Some ranges are 8-38, 12-32, 10-31. I'm 54 and without HRT I would hit about the high teens. On HRT I get to high 20s. For you? If you end up in the top third you'll do well.

think im going to have to go to my wifes doc. she went in the other day and for the second time shes had a full blood test done (different doctors)

she brought the blood tests home and even though her iron result was in range the doctors turned around and said that it is low, so more investigation into why is required. Quite suprised having read what i have on here and other boards.

having said that i suppose its not related to test so no flags go up.

Got my results back today for testosterone! The range on the test was 10-33! Mine came back at 15! The doctor said that was a good level! I thought I would have got alot better considering I'm only 22 and Stijl pretty young! What are your guys thoughts?

    Oh dear, another ignorant doctor.....

Mate, I'm 54 and I can get to better than 15 without HRT, with it, I get to 30+. 15 is NOT a good number for a man your age. Fullstop.

Did you get SHBG done? Estrogen?

Well, it's my view that testing for one hormone out of context can be pointless. SHBG and estrogen are key partners with testosterone so getting one tested without the other only gives part of the story. If you can, get them all done, and start looking for a doctor who can see that 15 is not a good results for a 22 year old.

thanks T2. i have booked into another doctor who my family has been dealing with my hole life. Only problme is that he has quite a long waiting list. I have asked my doctor to post out my blood test results to me, so i can take them along with me. hopefully this doctor will be more open minded and lees ignorant.

    Go see a different doctor!
Ask for testosterone, free-test, oestrogen, SHBG, t3, rt3 (reverse t3), cortisol... As far as hormone tests go... (Have i missed anything t2?)
And its probably a good idea to get kindey and liver funtion done too...
Today I will do what you won't so Tomorrow I can do what you can't!
