    Strange injury

    Hi BD,

About a month ago I felt a small pain in my right trap (or thereabouts). Thought nothing of it, as I seem to get some incidences of pain in that area each year.

Next time I trained chest, my entire right hand side was significantly weaker than the previous week (at least 30%). There is just nothing there to push. Same thing on shoulder presses. I can still train, but feel much weaker on the right hand side when pressing.

I also have pins and needles running down my entire right arm into my index finger and thumb. This is happening almost constantly.

I am thinking I either have an entrapped nerve somewhere or possibly even a bulging disc.

I have had a few manipulations done but nothing has worked yet.

    Any thoughts?

Hi mate. Sometimes when you train chest you can press your neck and head quite firmly into the bench. This can cause damage to the discs in your neck, resulting in the sypmtoms you're describing.

My advice is to see your Physio, have an assessment and treatment and see if it helps. If not, then they will advise you to see your doc for some scans. Try taking some anti-inflammatories as well to see if this helps. Ask your pharmacist or doc for advice here.

Hard to say what you've done without examining you, but I've also injured my neck with heavy chest when pressing awkwardly. I'm sure Take2 will have a comment about this also.

Let us know how you get on.
