Ethical and moral issues are difficult to disentangle from every day life. If we were to do this, life would not be what it is.

Manufacturers these days do not allow such products in TCM remedies. They are essentially banned now.

That is what I imagined with Ayurvedic medicine. There is much doubt with the former with the dangerous levels of toxic substances being imported to Australia for Ayurvedic medicine.

As far as Chinese medicine goes. If it works and does not use inhumane and (repeating the same, but) superstitious, immature methods to do its job. Re: culling of very nearly (in our lifetime) extinct tigers (for example), cool. Flying squirrel poop and spit of a sparrow is one thing totally different from other issues going on here. .Having said this. They still sell, in most chemists, a gel type concoction, containing bits from tigers, I imagine from their bones, or dangly private bits, which is just not right (I cannot recall the name of the stuff atm). Ethics and morality aside (morality can excuse itself from my discussion, but ethics is something far more human). Speaking Ethically, social relativity should not be appropriate for our world today (ie: just cos they are from Iran, they can commit honor killings rape daughters for looking at a man [ignoring this is being culturally relativist]. SO, I’m sure it (the grisly, hunted murdered parts of nearly extinct animals) does indeed get through to here: SA or VIC or NSW wherever you are. I’d want to know before I was the consumer.

    MF.

never intended to derail. I wish I could find a medicine man to help me as he has done you :)

Errr...I used to lecture in TCM, particularly acupuncture. I have many colleagues involved in manufacturing TCM products on a global scale.

Yeah, I have a few caps and many feathers...

    Chinese herbs

I recently got some Chinese herbs mixed up for me for weight loss......
    She gave me

    Salvia miltiorhiza 7.8g
    Crataegus pinnatifida var, major 13g
    Astragalus membranaceus var, mongholicus 15.6g
    Cassia obtusifolia 19.5g
    Paeonia lactifolia 19.5g
    Alisma orientails 13g
    Poria cocos 13g
    Reheum officinale 7.8g
    Nelumbo nucifera 7.8g
    Bupleurm chinense 7.8g
    Atractylodes macrocephala 7.8g

Take 3 heaped measuring spoons, once a day.

I have two weeks worth, think its more to aid my digestion than anything............ she said I had a thick back section of my tongue.

Tastes like absolute shit .......... can not see any obvious signs its doing anything to me but because it tastes so bad it has to be good for me :):):)

We use moxa sticks on the boys at footy. The looks on the boys faces when we first used them, they all came in wanting to know who was smoking dope. Now it's a running joke about me bonging on and not sharing....

Weight gain in TCM can be due to dysfunction of the Spleen/Stomach and Liver. The herbs you have been prescribed increase digestive function and aid the spleen and stomach to dispel "dampness"

The coating on your tongue, particularly if the tongue is swollen as well (you can see teethmarks) indicates dampness and fluid, often resulting from cold in the spleen and stomach meridians, causing poor digestion, bloating, weight gain, etc. You should also make sure you avoid cold foods like ice cream, too much fruit, milk, yoghurt, etc.

Take your herbs 30-60 mins before food and drink green tea with your meals.

Where western medicine wanted to surgically remove my gall bladder, homeopathy was able to fix the problem within days - I've never had an attack since.

The real issue is knowing where each has its place. Take that poor little kid that died from excema recently because her parents would only use Homeopathy. The kid died unecessarily.

There is a place for both types of approaches.

Agreed. Those parents allowed that to happen over quite a period of time however, and anyone with eyes could see there was something not right - I think there is more to the story than we know.

I am not anti western medicine - I am involved in the field. Perhaps having some 1st hand knowledge has reaffirmed my belief that the person most interested in your health is you, so be proactive in your own well being.

Mate, I agree. My health has been at the top of my priorities for 7 years now, and will continue to be.

As for the excema case? I've followed the court case and this was a clear case of blinkered and obsessive belief in homeopathic medicine and the exclusion of western medicine, which ultimately killed an innocent young baby.

As I said; we need both.
