How are you measuring the body fat, really the only way to get accurate readings is a dexa scan they just dont lie.

Yeah mate you could get those readings from day to day like that.
I know it cost $600 but all it does is send a signal up 1 leg and back down the other following the path of least resistance.
If your feet are sweatier one day that will give you a better reading and if your holding more water one day that will give a better reading, also if your holding more salt that too will give a better reading.

Think to yourself and try this on the scale:
If you entre in female same height same age the body fat levels should be the same as the male's results, because if you were a female and you did have all that male muscle on you it would say your the same body fat.
But it wont it will put you alot higher.

The whole scale is based on averages.

Sadly the cost doesn't equate to accuracy.

As stated, there's a stack of variables that will change the result.

Might I suggest you do as I did: have a Dexa scan as soon as you can after weighing yourself to "calibrate" your scales. Then; do the wiegh ins at the same time each day so they correlate as close as possible. Otherwise, all you get is a relative measure, not necessarily an accurate one, and certainly not down to fractions of a percent.

Take 2: do you think Jaiman has done this long enough to warrant a deca scan? I mean how much do they cost?

Jaiman: should be taking photos. Progress should be reasonably easy to see at least initially. If your cut is successful and you have abs, its even easier to determine whether your gaining LBM or fat from photos.

BTW, Dad bought bf% scales. He's 5'6 like me, and is trying to lose weight. Initially he was 91kg and it said he was 8% bf lol. 7 weeks later he's 82kg and he's still 8%

I think a DEXA scan is a good idea, if only to get an accurate picture of where you are at now. Cost is $60, and of all the money I've spent on health/fitness over the years, it's about the best value.

As for J's needs? As I said, it gives him a reference point for his scales and a method of comparing down the track.

    Ah $60 isn't too bad.

The figure I read somewhere here (or misread) was far higher.
