    JC Protein Cookies

Before I kick off my first post as a board sponsor, I would like to thank the support of all SM members in bringing this little project of mine to fruition. This includes the other board sponsors and the moderators, Dava and MO.

A lot of blood sweat and tears (not literally, of course) has gone into developing my product over the last 12 months. It hasnt always been easy but that's what makes it so much fun. If it wasnt challenging, it would be boring.

I've lost count of the number of variations on the product we tried before coming up with the final formula. I was never going to put out a product that I couldnt or wouldnt stand behind. I was fed up with what was available in terms of protein snacks, particularly cookies. Most were either too high in sugar or high in saturated fats AND high in sugars.

Coming up with the 'perfect' product was never going to be easy. Everyone has different priorities and concerns when it comes to this kind of thing. Personally, I go for low sugars and low saturated fats but overall I wanted to create a product that was low in both these macronutrients and higher than the rest in protein. I think we've managed to achieve that. But in doing so, we've also stumbled upon a formula that works for a CRUNCHY protein cookie. Nothing else like it presently exists on the Australian market.

I apologise for all the guff but I wanted to paint a bit of a picture.

The product comes in a chocolate chip (original) and double choc variety at present but we will be releasing other flavours such as 'choc orange', 'choc mint' and 'cranberry & white chocolate' in the near future. There will also be a line of brownies and friands... most likely.

A a couple of things which make this product different from anything else out there (in the same space) at the moment:
    * JC's is the only CRUNCHY protein cookie on the market at present \
    * JC's has the highest amount of PROTEIN per 100gm serve of any BAKED protein cookie presently on the market
    * JC's is low in saturated fats and VERY low sugars (see PDF for full nutritionals). The overall fats in the product are moderate however they come from almonds, which are unsaturated as long as they stay below smoking point (which in this case, they have).
    * Each JC's packet contains 10 x 10gm cookies, so people can portion control (although, once you have one I'd be willing to bet they'll finish the entire box)
    * JC's does NOT use SOY Protein! (I know the ladies dont care, but the blokes certainly do... or should)
    * JC's is WHEAT FREE however it MAY contain traces of GLUTEN as it is made in a kitchen where there are products that contain gluten

I realise there will be critics. One thing I've realised throughout this process is that you cant be all things to all people. This product isnt designed to cure cancer or eliminate fat cells. It's a snack, plain and simple. For those who want 98% protein with less than 1% fat and carbs, a can of tuna or roo steak would be a wiser choice. But if you want a relatively guilt free snack that will deliver some protein to those hard earned muscles, then maybe this is for you.

I have a couple of places stocking the product in Melbourne so far - Health for U in Chapel Street Prahran and Sunnybrook Health Foods in North Road, Ormond.

A meeting with a couple of very large health food retailers next week will hopefully see the product being stocked in those two as well.

    Fingers crossed.

I've been retailing the product through a couple of other avenues over the past couple months, however I will be doing a very special deal for SM members, which will be announced by the end of this week. It will top anything I've done before. So stay tuned!

Once again, thank you guys for all your support and trying sample after sample, after sample.

    Be well. Train Hard.

    JC

I know the time Gruntjc has put into this so this isn't something he just thought of to make a quick buck. There's been alot of R&D into this little project of his so we at Size Matters support him 100%.

Selling his loved possesions so that he could fund this passion of his is just one of the hard things he had to go through so that this dream would become reality.

Last of all, the cookies were delicious!
    Guilt free and high protien.

    All the best, JC!

Thank you guys. I really do appreciate your kind words.

Rather than send out samples this time, I am going to try and organise a stand or small booth (ok, it'll be a tressle table and a cheap table cover. lol) at a gym in Melbourne followed by one in Syndey and QLD in the coming months.

People can come down, get a fix.... and we can have a chat about what you like and what they would like to see in the future for products like this.

In the meantime, I'll stay true to my word and work up a competitive deal for SM members and post it up by Monday.

p.s. Mikasadan... if you do go into Gary, you'll have to look inside the Max's Cookie point of sale display because when I last went in there, I saw one or two of my boxes inside (will have to talk to him about that. lol).

MO... I still cry for my dumbell collection. I'll get em back one day!! :)

That's it - 10 cookies is one serve.

I personally wouldnt go over 2 packs a day because there is dietary fibre in there.... unless you want to blow away some mates. :)

I had a guy who ate 4 packets in one sitting, then he complained that he was the only guy in and around the squat cage at the gym if you get my drift (which is not a bad thing! lol).

After a couple meetings with some 'bigwigs' in the health industry, I've reduced the sweetness of the product a touch (1/4). It's really hard to appeal to every single person's pallete, but I would still like to know what people think when they try them. Seems people who follow a strict diet (myself included) dont really need too much sweet so I've taken that into consideration when developing and refining this product.

That is a sensational result and well done. Inspirational to see someone bring what began as an idea/dream - through into a product on a shelf.

There is a LOT of work in that!

Best of luck. Im sure gruntjc that if these things take off like I think they will - you'll be able to replace that dumbell set pretty easily mate :)

Great to see that you have made progress on the cookies. I was wondering if you had been beaten down by the crap you have to go through to get a product to market. Having been one of your past guinea pigs and customers, I look forward to trying the new product. I know where the Chapel St store is so will drop in and get some.

My main use for your "original" version was for plane travel as the food they supply is usually crap or non existant. The new product looks a lot more compact which is good for slipping into my overburdened carryon so that is positive.

My pre-tried gripe is that I don't like chocolate, but then if I can down straight creatine powder I can put up with the choc.

    How about a BANANA flavour!!!!!
