Need females help asap or anyone who might know.

Got this pm from a female,

Hey there I have a bit of an embarassing problem, but i think i know what the cause of it is. (my cycle has stopped, the female cycle that is)

Now i was reading that anabolic steriods can temp. stop the female cycle etc.

Now I am currently taking superpump 250 as a pre workout drink and then a shake of optimum nutrition whey protein powder.

Now since this problem is relatively recent does it have something to do with the above?

I have also started getting some pimples. does the above two formulas contain testosterone?

If you could provide some guidance it would be awesome.

What could be the reason her periods have stopped?

Im still trying to get more out of the girl. She said when she started the superpump/protien, her acne got worse and her periods have stopped.

Only thing i could guess is that superpump is laced with something or the girl may be pregnant.

    Any help appreciated.

    She is not on steroids.

Pregnant, prescription medication, diet, body fat %...... the list could go on. I'd tell her to go and see her GP.

    Yah what Belmont said.

Highly unlikely that a pre workout drink would affect a woman's cycle. Doesn't sound like an OTC one if it does. Has she lost a ton of weight? Does she take oral contraceptives and is there a possibility she skipped the sugar pills?
Under huge amounts of sudden stress? Unprotected sex. As Belmont said, the list goes on.

    I still await her pm.

With regards to the pill, does that cause periods to cease, or does the pill only prevent preganancy?

So can somebody take the pill and get normal periods, or is it affected?

It really depends in what your are taking e.g. oral contraceptive, implant etc.

So the answer would be yes it is a possibility for it to cease. The pill is also not a 100% given to prevent pregnancy.

It depends on what pill she is taking.

If she is taking a progesterone only pill like Yasmin then it can cease periods in some women.
If she is taking the pill and skipping the sugar pills in it, then she won't get a period.

The way the 'normal' pill works is that there are 21 hormone tablets and 7 sugar tablets. When you get to the sugar tablets then you should get your period. For women who don't want to get their period they skip the sugar tablets. The sugar tablets are in the pack so you are still taking 1 tablet a day so you know where you are up to. If you took 21 tablets in a row and then had to remember to not take 7 and then on the 8th day remember to start again then most women wouldn't remember where they are up to - hence the sugar pills.

If you are taking antibiotics they can stop the pill from working and you need to use condoms or another method. Also if you are sick and vomiting you can vomit it back up before your body has absorbed it.

If she is only taking superpump and whey then there shouldn't be anything in them that could cease her periods. Some people with superpump lose weight quickly which can cause women to stop getting their periods. - that's if she has been losing weight quickly.

She should go get her hormones checked anyway because a breakout of pimples is usually hormone related. She needs to also check that she may not be pregnant.

If she has lost heaps of weight in a short amount of time that can cause her periods to stop. Can I ask why she is asking a guy? Best to see the doctor because there are 1000 reasons your period can stop. You would be just guessing like everyone else and this could lead to wrong advice which could result in something inside her going untreated.

I'm with Mr Ed on this. I find it strange that she would ask a guy (unless he's a Doc), unless maybe she IS taking something else that she doesn't want to admit to a doc? A hell of a lot of females don't have a clue about how the female reproductive system works - let alone a guy knowing!

Any other symptoms that could relate to menopause? There is usually other stuff going on with that (get her to google it). Im surprised a woman would think it was due to a superpump formula and whey so no surprise that they'd ask a bloke really (sorry but thats how it is).

if she is taking the whey and the superpump, then one might assume she is training more? A lot of female athletes stop menstruating because of the amount they train. Pimples most definitely hormone related, and in my own case, I didnt get pimples until my first pregnancy, so would also be querying the pregnancy line as well.

Asking a man about hormonal matters seems rather weird in some ways, but then she may not have close female relatives or friends to ask and if her gp may not know about bodybuilding supplements. Not that doctors are clueless about things outside of medicine, but like everyone else, they tend to have their own specialities and interests, ie one of the doctors here is also a world leading volcanologist (?sp), so her doctor may not know much about bodybuilding, therefore she is asking someone who does know something about the supplements.

without more info to go on from the girl though, the best advice i could give would be that she needs to go see her doctor or if there is a reason she is uncomfortable doing that, go see the community health nurse (but be prepared to be totally honest, cause they cant help properly if they dont know all the info).

We have all pretty much said the same thing so there you go. Consensus is that its most likely not supplements and to see a doctor. and the doctor will need more info than what we've been given here.

    GOOD LUCK

Not to sure why she asked me lol, but it has helped me abit by researching and asking.

Ok, now the pill and pregnancy is ruled out.

I think it came down to her weight loss, excessive exercise and stress.

even stress could cause it, and over-training...
