    Protein Bar

    hey,

Just wondering for those that eat them where you get them and how much? I assume the supermarket ones are crap, and for $5 a bar seems a bit steep for crap.

would have to buy in bulk to get the price i'd assume, but i am just wondering where/how much i can get them before. With my work would make afternoon meal easier if i could have one a day or something.

    cheers

Hey, it may be a bit of work im not sure how busy you are but have you ever considered making your own? Theres a gold mine of protein bar recipes on the bb.com forums. Like....hundreds. You could always try give them a shot, make a batch, take a couple to work. Best thing about making your own is that you have complete control over your macros, its cheaper andd im sure it really isnt that difficult either.

A low carb bar....for that i would guess that mixing cream, peanut butter, protein powder in some ratio would be the way to go. Maybe chuck in some presoaked psyllium husk for fibre and filler and some flax seed/meal. These are the ingredients i would use, how you use them however is your guess, id say start light with your liquids as the powders suck it up after some mixing.

Ever had a proper look at the "low carb" bars?

Filled to the brim with polydextrose and sugar alcohols and most of the time end up giving you just as many calories as if you were to have a bar with carbs in it, sometimes even more.
