Just in regards to krill oil, do you believe it has a place in conjunction with a stand alone DHA supplement? I understand your take regarding DHA but I wonder whether you think that the ORAC value and the astaxanthin which promote antioxidant metabolism are worth the spending since, excluding its own benefits, it will largely help the absorption of the DHA supplement as well as contribute very little in the way of EPA.

    Cheers.
Hi Jason and thank you for your question. My answer is no; it's not worth spending any money on an omega 3 that is not DHA. I see your point re the anti-oxidant astaxanthin and would welcome it had the taker of DHA already not being taking some form of anti-oxidant with it. Here's a small article you may like to read; it's called DHA, Krill Oil & Green-lipped Mussel – Which Is Best?
Dha, Krill Oil & Green-lipped Mussel – Which Is Best?

PS: As for ORAC; I've already written on that and placed no frills cocoa powder at the top of the list. We need an ORAC value of 3000 per day. Cocoa powder has a value of 26,000/100g of food. Prunes from memory have a value of 5000/100g. Please also note, that it's the ratio of DHA to EPA that I'm emphasising as much as DHA itself. Also, I haven't seen a need mention anywhere where without astaxanthin, DHA won't be properly absorbed.Thank you.

Thank you Jason. I've just placed a $400 order from the US for a variety of natural anti-inflammatory and shoulder building products. Like I said earlier, I'll be writing a review re each and every herb/supplement with studies and experience to back it up. My left shoulder is very bad (due to the fall) but I'm still training. I'll keep you updated. Thanks again my friend.

    Take care.

    G'day Fadi,

I have been looking around to find a good ratio of DHA/EPA and I found this

    Carlson Labs, Super-DHA Gems, 500 mg, 180 Soft Gels - iHerb.com

What do you think and is there any thing better that you know of mate?

    OMEGA Brain - Blackmores

There is also this - some places give decent discounts on the product, although I think the iherb remains cheaper.

This has got me quite curious. I may try a DHA experiment after the melrose fish oil has ran out - 2.5G of DHA per day which would cost roughly $1 USD per day. One of my reasons for my curiosity of with the fish oil experimentation is to see whether it had any effect on the (IMO) post-finasteride extreme brain fog.

Fadi already made it clear that it is DHA alone we are after therefore that product IS good. I've found nothing better myself in my searches. You might want to check vitacost though as the same product is sold for $10 less.

I know Fadi made it clear about DHA, I only asked if this product is fine and if there is anything better.

When I was looking around iherb the majority fish oils are higher on EPA than DHA. I would of thought since DHA is more beneficial there would be more supplements of it to buy and higher in fish oils but EPA is higher.

Could u link vitacost on i-herb?

I'm sure there are other trustful vendors, but my experience with iherb has been so good - they are as quick as many Australian vendor's - that I'd prefer to use iherb for international orders.

Great product with a great 5:1 ratio. I just received this one few days ago Jarrow Formulas, Max DHA, 607 mg, 180 Softgels - iHerb.com

The difference is that it has half the dosage per capsule and a ratio of about 7:1. I'm not saying it's better; just an alternative.

    Fadi.
