Dava, I have a book by Dr Peter D'Adamo and Catherine Whitney which is eating right for your blood type. I must admit the author's recommendation for my blood type, A+ (which included diet, supplements and exercise) were the foods and exercise I enjoyed and gravitated to the most and felt the best on. Would be interested to hear others opinions who have also tried. These days I don't stick to 100% and perhaps that's why I feel crap most of the timeGood luck and keep us posted if you persue this regime.
i'm definately going to buy the book. I'm finding it really interesting so far.
Agreed. Would normal bookstores stock it?
might have to be ordered i think
Dymocks carry it.
righto i'm off to Dymocks then.
Cheers
me too! thanks Holly95 and tart65 for the info.
So Holly I'm an A+ as well - in terms of supplements is Whey protein off limits? The suspense is killing me and I won't be able to get the book until tonight at best!
I bought the book ages ago.
To be honest I never truly tested the diet so I can't comment.
It is well written, but from what I have read not very scientifically accepted.
I know one bodybuilder in Melbourne who believes the diet works for him.
Will be interesting to see if anyone tries it whether they feel any benefit.
Im still having trouble understanding the benefits of the blood type diet and, more importantly, the negatives and how great the risks are. I'm open minded with these types of things but if someone has done the leg work could they show me how practical application of this diet is a benefit, and why certain types of foods should be avoided - even though those foods break down in to the same basic components as other foods: protien, carbs, etc.
Little help?
well, i'm doing it as of now, so i'll keep you updated
Gah! He should know about GH production since its main occurrence is during sleep!
And i agree, generally, doctors know jack shit about diet. They will most probably refer you to the pyramid diet used in 1976.
Unless they have diabetes or something, then they would have researched diets for their own sake, just like us![]()
Can't find it listed in the book I'm afraid. My book is at least 10yrs old and it may have been updated. For us cmjk, we are suited to a vegetarian diet, although chicken, turkey, poussin and eggs are neutral so ok. Salmon, cod, red snapper, rainbow trout, sardine are highly beneficial. If you like golf, hiking, swimming, martial arts or cycling these are a few of our chosen exercises. If you want an alcoholic drink go for the red wine. According to the book we tend to be iron deficient and need to watch that .. this for me is quite true.
thanks for that Holly. I've found that on website research too. Was hoping the book may be more detailed.
A friend of mine (non-trainer) was put on it by a naturpath - as they were trying for a family. His wife fell preggers and he lost almost 10kgs too. He's also an A+ so I'll hit him up for his information.
Whey protein im thinking is a no - because of its dairy origins (dairy is bad for A+ right?). Im also interested about rice. I love basmati rice - my friend mentioned rice was a once a week food type.
Oats are ok too I think?
[edit - went to the gym tonight instead of going to the shops to get book. I hate the shops - especially a Thursday night]
