2010 N.T Elite Champions Saltwater Classic:

Details posted by promoter Phil Primmer. A show of a different kind changed and customised to suite what everyone has ever complained about the runnings of a bodybuilding show. Should be really big!

    Poster of the show below...

    "Shit just got serious!!!

Here are some further details on the show

    Divisions:

    NT Women’s (NT Residents only)

    • Figure Novice
    • Figure Masters
    • Figure Short Class
    • Figure Tall Class
    • Fitness
    • Sportsmodel
    • Bodybuilding

    NT Men’s (NT Residents only)

    • Novice
    • Masters
    • Classic 1
    • Classic 2
    • U70
    • U80
    • U90
    • U100
    • O100

Australian Open Class (Any Australian competitor that is not an Elite competitor, but wants to come up and support and compete in this show)

    • Men’s Australian Open Champions
    • Women’s Australian Open Figure Champions

Australian Elite Class (Competitors must have an Australian title in any Federation or be invited at promoters discretion)

    • Men’s Australian Elite Champions
    • Women’s Australian Elite Figure Champions

Some other things to take note of:

    • NT Championships will have “Overall” winners!
    • Overall NT Men’s and Women’s winners go through to the Elite Classes
    • Open Men’s and Women’s winners go through to the Elite Classes
    • This will be a one show format, there will not be any prejudging!
    • Figure competitors will be doing routines in my show!
    • Even if it is not calculated on points, men’s classes will be called out for “Most muscular” poses during compulsories!
    • Last but not least, my mate Tony Doherty is going to emcee the event

Prize Money: To my knowledge, more than double the most ever, anywhere in the country!!!

    Elite Men’s, 1st $8,000, 2nd $4,000, 3rd $2,000
    Elite Women’s 1st $3,000, 2nd 2,000, 3rd $1,000

Due to the IFBB Elite rules, unfortunately I am only allowed to give out a maximum of $10,000 CASH for the Men’s Elite. Therefore as I had previously stated I would do more, the extra $4,000 missing from the Elite Men’s will be given as Travel vouchers on top of the cash to use for any airfares anywhere in the world. I have not made a decision on how that will be distributed amongst the place winners as yet. All competitors are most welcome to call me and give me their feedback on their opinions.

There will also be other prizes throughout the show for “Best Wheels”, “Best Routine” and other things that I want.

NT Overall winners will receive $1,000 each towards Airfares and Accommodation to the Nationals.

I will also pay out of my own pocket for all competitors to receive an official competition T-shirt and professionally shot DVD of the show. While I’m at it, you won’t be seeing any plastic trophies being handed out either.

The judging panel will be made up of Australian Bodybuilding royalty!

Pro Card: I have been given a commitment from IFBB that if the right person (someone who is looking to genuinely compete as a Pro) wins this show, providing they can back things up at the Nationals 2 weeks later they will be awarded a Pro card this year. If the wrong person (someone who does not want to or someone who is not ready to compete as a Pro) wins, the Pro card thing will just not be raised.

HCAM will be in attendance to cover the event and so will Australia’s best Bodybuilding photographer, RobC, to get the best shots of everyone and no doubt do a pile of photo shoots pre and post comp. Trust me when I tell you we have the best lighting in the world with our sunsets on the foreshore cliffs up in Darwin.

Ben from Bioflex supplements will hold a grip challenge (Weight on the bar, upright lockout and see who can hold out the longest) during the half time break with decent cash prizes also. This will run 2 people at the same time to make it competitively interesting.

Now, I have put this together because it’s what I want to do, but make no mistake it’s for the AUSTRALIAN BODYBUILDING COMMUNITY. After hearing plenty of “TALK” about who’s the best spread across the different federations, this is what everyone has wanted and repeatedly talked about. The best of the best going head to head!!!

I don’t care what anyone says, some competitors pick shows to go in depending on who’s doing what other shows each year. There are a lot of big names out there and with all due respect there is sometimes a lot to lose. So everyone that turns up in Darwin ready to get it on, knowing this will be the best line-up ever in the history of Australian bodybuilding has my mad respect for taking on this ultimate challenge. Like the poster say’s, time to find out “Who’s a contender and who’s a pretender?”

I have worked my fucken arse off pulling in the money to put this show together. I can sometimes have a big mouth and I’ll tell you straight that I have been more than a little concerned this time about where I’m going to get the money to have a venue like I have, over $20,000 in prize money, fly up a bunch of key people, have Phil Heath, the most popular guest poser in the world and look after everyone as well as they should be. However as of today I’m covered and very relieved. I would like to thank my generous sponsors for backing me and invite them all to take ownership of this event.

Accommodation: I have secured the Medina Vibe Hotel at the waterfront for any competitors or interstate guests that are travelling up. This is a very nice hotel and at this price it is heavily discounted. I will forward the link very soon, once the rate is set in the hotels system. You will need to quote the show to get this rate. The hotel is 100m from the Darwin Convention Centre and has the new wave pool right in front of it. It really is a great spot. You can check it out at http://www.darwinconvention.com.au/d...waterfront.asp
    Vibe Hotel Darwin Waterfront
Standard Room Only $133, Standard Room B&B $153
Now in closing... To the competitors that have confirmed, thank you. To the ones who are still deciding or whose decisions are pending injury lists, can you please let me know your intentions as soon as you can. As you can appreciate I need to cater for you and work around these lists. Legitimate absences are Luke Schembri (Wedding/Honeymoon) Ducca (Hip recon)

My contact details are: phil.primmer@live.com.au or Ph: 0407 727 506
I will forward registration forms to each competitor and need them back by the 9th September

    Cheers guys!!!

Missed it last year, going to buy a ticket tomorrow if available.

If I can I'll try for as many pictures as possible, but I do suck with a camera. Just a warning.

    Show update from the promoter:

    Oh yeah!!!

Unless someone gets very sick or has a death in the family (touch wood) here is the lineup so far that I have been given personally by the competitng athletes. Note that there are 3 competitors that have asked me to keep quiet their names quiet for a few more weeks to be 100%

Everyone of these guys is an Australian champion that wants to take on the best of the best. Just being in this lineup is a statement in itself.

    The line-up as of today

    Neil Gardiner
    Scott Goble
    Justin Wessels
Abraham (Just confirmed tonight, this just got very exciting!!!)
    Andy Cunningham
    Darren Smith
    Christian Gee
    Eric McKintyre
    + 3 others

    11 Freaks and counting... Boom!!!

I appreciate it would be overwelming but anyone else with the balls to get up amoungst the best of the best, your most welcome to bring it come Oct 9. You'll have a blast and will be treated like you should be!

For the record the Elite figure is going to bring the house down all by itself as well.

Throw in the open classes, the NT Championships and $20,000 on the table and this show is going to rock a massive Darwin crowd. If that wasn't enough then how about Phil Heath for his first ever Australian appearance only 2 weeks out from his Olympia conditioning.

A $10,000 TV advertising campaign starts this weekend. Man I can't wait for this show!!! It will be awesome to see the size of Abe going up against the conditioning of Justin and both up against Scott who is on and has momentum after beating Schembri and winning the CCI. There are at less 4 guys over 40 and everyone is going to be bringing the're A-game.

I would like to acknowledge all of the sponsors from Darwin outside of the bodybuilding industry. To put on a show like this with double the most ever before prize money, a world class venue, a guest poser like Phil Heath and the best of everything in between, a show like this is just not possible to do without raising huge amounts of money. People give me a lot of credit for raising this money, but the truth is it's the generousity and the support from my community that is the real reason. I hope that everyone involved in this show can give them respect for that. In fact at the end of the show, I'll invite every single competitor to all at once file back out on stage to give them a round of applause.

See you all on October 9

My ticket is bought and now I have to find some accommodation and I will be set to go. Somehow I don't think the accommodation is going to be a problem. This is going to be an awesome show.

I thought it was a great show, though they where running a little behind schedule. My training partners Kelly and Mitchell did well in the NT novices, especially since it was their first show. Mitchell took out 2nd place, very well done.

I got a pic with Phil, he was a true class act, nice guy and easy to talk to. I was surprised not many people where around to get photo's taken with him or come and meet him. There was barely a line, unlike when Ronnie was up, I waited an hour to see him. Unfortunately I didn't have any cash on me, otherwise I would've bought his DVD, hindsight and all that.

It was good to meet Julian from Protein Direct in person and have a bit of a chin wag. His match box magic trick was pretty cool too. Hopefully you didn't have too much of a rough night and the headache left mate.

Unfortunately I left after the squat your bodyweight competition as it was starting to get late and I'd been feeling pretty sick all day. This means I missed out on what I really wanted to see, the Elite Class and Phil do his guest posing. I left at 9:45pm, feeling pretty run down. Apparently by 10:30pm~ Phil hadn't done his routine yet, which I guess means the Elite must've had some serious competition going on, a lot of head to heads and re-pose downs as I'm fairly certain it was about to start as I was leaving.

All in all it was a great night and well well worth the $40. Can't wait for next years. The lads want me to compete in next years show, I'll see how I go.

That's classic Julian for ya! LOL.

Sounds like it went well into the night.
Glad you enjoyed it, and you should get up there next year, I.A.

I think it would be a great experience, if it's anything like powerlifting/strongman meets the comraderie never ceases to amaze me. No ego's no agenda's just a bunch of strong people doing what they love. Mitchell and Kelly said the guys backstage where good and really helped them out like applying last minute tan and helping with pumping up. Those are things that I was meant to be helping them with but Mr. Security guard thought otherwise.

It'd be a different sort of thing for me training wise as I'm used to heavy low rep stuff, I don't do direct arm work, except for the occasional tricep movement if I feel my lockout's are suffering. Infact I don't do ANY "direct" anything work so getting into that sort of training would be a bit of fun and probably help spur some new growth. It does mean getting a lot leaner though. Ugh.

Just got back from Darwin this morning. Awesome show with lots of "stars": Phil Kabakoff, Tony Doherty, Luke Woods, Bruce Leong and a great line up of absolutely awesome competitors. The standout competitor: Justin Wessels. Unbelievable conditioning and definitely ahead of anyone else.

Phil Heath looked good but considering I have seen him compete at this years Mr. Olympia you can say I have seen him in better shape. The venue was world class, the hotel I stayed was ok and before Mino asks, no I did not have a therapeutic massage this time. I was too busy because the next day I went to do Kakadu with my son. The show finished very late but I still enjoyed it. Phil Primmer is a great promoter.

I am still a little tired from the trip and hence my short posting. It was good to meet an SMer (Iron Alliance) at this show. Glad you liked my magic trick. Sorry you didn't get to see Phil Heath. At least you saw your friends competing. Hope you're feeling better and thank God my headache didn't last very long. Don't worry MO, you'll get to see it (the magic trick) in about two weeks time at the IFBB Nationals.

I have to go now to get ready for this week's QLD championships (major sponsor this time baby) and also to organise my other rep for this week's NABBA nationals in Sydney.

PS. Props to Tim Martin for taking it to the guys in the Elite division

Whoops yeah. I forgot to mention the affordable entry fee especially considering it was such a classy venue. Your friend Tim Martin had a very entertaining routine. My kid kept telling me he thinks had the best routine of the night.

Most certainly mino. I will be in Sydney next week for the IFBB Nationals. This weekend only George will be in Sydney for the NABBA nationals because I have to be at the IFBB Sunshine Coast. What a hard life I have sometimes :).
