    Bodies over 50

    Hi folks,

Given the discussion in the "how much can you gain" thread, I thought I'd have a look around and see if I could find some competitors in my age bracket. Now I'm sure there's plenty of pics and people out there, but the first page I cam across had some amazing guys from comps last year.

BB over 50 and 60 Gunnar Bråthen (61)

Not sure if seeing them has encouraged or discouraged me :)

    Cheers

Why would you be discouraged mate? There is more than enough evidence to suggest that bodybuilding is not just a young mans game. Use anything that might work against you as motivation to work even harder to acheive the goal. Trust me you're not the only one shoveling shit up a hill.

Why? Lots of reasons; primarily confronting my life-long inability to see much through to the end. I think I might have posted this before, but most of my working life has been in live TV; working to a very strict daily schedule to get on air at an exact time each day; do an hour of TV; then go and get on the piss. Doing that for years creates a mindset of immediacy; applying maximum effort in a fixed, one day timetable.

As you know, bodybuilding is all about the long haul; much much longer timeframes; working consistently toward a goal that may be months or even years off. For me that's a massive change of thinking; and whilst I've made great headway over the last few years, it's still a failing. I have no problem creating a plan of attack for the next 12-18 months; but being as diligent, as determined, as focussed, as "obsessed" as many of the people here are, is a daunting prospect.

However, having said that; I've made my public proclamation, so it's now or never.

    Cheers

I don't think there is ever and end when it comes being happy with your physique. At least you know what your failings are and you can work on them.

There seems to be great social support network here for you also, it would be nice to be looking back on this thread in 12 months time and you to think wtf was I talking about I can't do it.

T2, you should attened every bodybuilding show within your reach from now on purely for the masters division.
I guarantee you that you will walk out of there with a new attitude.
Attened both IFBB and ANB shows.
The ANB shows from what i have experanced, have more masters competing.

Make the most out of every moment, every situation and never wait for the next time. It is almost always true that opportunity doesn't knock twice. You could put things off until tomorrow but tomorrow may not come. . .

Yes, that's very much on the agenda for this year. And yes, the attitude needs tweaking :)
