Getting ready for my first comp

    Hey guys,

I don't post often but I would like to contribute more. So here goes...

    Little info about me:
Always had been a chubby kid, typical endomorph - I put lean mass and fat on quite easily and I don't really tolerate carbohydrate well. I have been as heavy as 98kg with a lot of body fat. Even though I was a chubby kid , I was very athletic - being on the athletics squad (as a sprinter of course !!!) I would never forgive my teacher for putting me in the 800 m race @ a regional level - hardest race ever! Lol
Played touch, union and league - on my final game for Marist , I tore my ACL and then a year later, needed an athroscopy on the same knee for a tear; needless to say, my sprinting speed sucks now.

I'm from the eastern suburbs of Sydney but was originally a Perth boy.

I'm doing the Sydney ANB held on May 23rd and have enlisted the help of Vic D. I started 4 weeks, giving me around 16 weeks in total for my prep.

I will post weekly photos and will answer any questions to the best of my ability.

    Starting weight 86kg

    Update 1/3/2010 - 80kg now.
    Just a little side note

Doing the juniors (I'm 22) with a couple of my mates - what's even more interesting that we all use Vic for our prep... let the mind games begin. Hahaha

Fantastic progress, very noticeable.... each week you're looking bigger (even though you're getting lighter)!

I won't go into too much specifics (as it's not fair to Victor ) but I'll give you a run down .

I have couple servings of chicken and 1 lean serving of beef. (200g)
Tuna, oats, avocado; egg and egg whites omelette, some sweet potatoes; there were also rice and lots of veges.

Victor allows me to play with carbs but is strict on the protein and fats. I'm pretty instinctual with my diet - for example I started with 3000 cals( but was having trouble eating so much) for training days and around 2750 cals for non-training but in the first few weeks , I tweaked some of the carbs for the later meals (IE. eliminated !! LOL). By the 2nd week , I had eliminated the rice, white potato without any ill effects on mood, strength and so forth. In fact, I'm getting better lifts :)

I see him once a week (that's when I take these pics) and we talk about the diet, training; I give him feedback etc etc. He makes notes of tweaks I have made to the diet and which allows me to develop as a competitor.

He and I decided that a keto diet would me the best - not because I'm not progressing well but over the last month we've come to realise that I operate quite well without carbs.

I start the new diet tomorrow ...Vic sent it last night - all, I'll say is that I'm gonna be real hungry. Lol
Lots of greens, no carbs except Post WO, smaller portions of chicken and fish replaces my beef meal

Hope I answered your question mate.

i will be keeping an eye out on every post on this thread, pretty keen to see end results,

gook, its a hard journey but end results are always amazing,no matter even if your lagging something, this way you will learn what needs to be tweaked up for next comp,

understand that not many people really know what we go through to get to that final stage and truly not many would be able to handle it,just the dieting part does your head in,

i really enjoy dieting down, especially waking up every morning and noticing something different all the time,

get those legs tightened up mate, bring them out,its something that i neglected and imbalanced my top half,

also, good to see vic putting his time and effort to helping you, sounds like hes been quite helpful and relying on you not to let him down,so do him a favour, blank out from any other peoples ideas and stick to him down pat right to the end,

also saw my friend mike at mikes discounts, hes got an amazing team lined up for this year also,so should be interesting,

will def come to the show and support you mate,

keep up the good work and concentrate hard man, theres no room for error,

    Thanks Mino!

I will smash those legs for sure.

Him and I work well and we like to bounce ideas for things to tweak or etc.
I have huge respect for the guy and I know he puts a lot of hard work and devotion to every competitor he trains, plus I think people who has the pleasure of meeting him, can tell you he is one of the nicest blokes around.

To be honest, I like dieting and having a tight schedule - I feel great, I don't really get cravings or anything like that...however I am well aware of the enormity of my task at hand.
I will let you guys know how I adjust to the diet next week. Should be interesting.
